The particulars
A note on risk
Good judgement begins with understanding what you can lose.

Republic of Investors publishes information and opinion, not investment advice. Investing in private companies is high risk and you can lose all the money you invest.
Information, not advice
Articles, commentary, examples and other public material on this site are general information and opinion. They are not investment, financial, legal or tax advice. They do not take account of your circumstances, objectives or capacity for loss.
No offer or solicitation
Nothing on this website is an offer to sell, a solicitation to buy or a recommendation to hold any security, financial product or investment. References to businesses or investment approaches are editorial. The public site does not sell investments or list specific investments for subscription.
Private companies carry substantial risk
You can lose all the money you invest. A company may fail, require further funding or perform very differently from expectations. Early-stage businesses may have little trading history. Small established businesses may depend on a few people, customers or contracts.
Investments in private companies are often illiquid. There may be no market for your interest, no right to withdraw your money and no reliable way to sell when you want to. Valuations may be uncertain. Borrowing, dilution, currency movements and changes to law or tax can increase risk. Property or other assets do not guarantee that your capital is protected.
Do your own work
Carry out your own due diligence. Check claims, inspect relevant documents and understand the terms before committing money. Take independent advice from appropriately qualified financial, legal and tax professionals. A community discussion or an introduction is not a substitute for that work.
Past performance and illustrations
Past performance is no guide to future results. Examples, scenarios and forecasts are not promises. Any figures used to explain a concept are illustrations unless expressly identified and sourced otherwise.
Interests and conflicts
The publisher, founder or contributors may have an interest in businesses we write about. We will say so when we publish material about a business in which we have a relevant interest. Readers should also consider the interests and incentives of anyone presenting an opportunity.
Your decision remains yours
Membership, an event, an article or a conversation should never be taken as an assurance that an investment is suitable, safe or approved. Decide independently whether an opportunity is appropriate for you, and whether you can afford the possible loss.
